This is our second batch of baby chicks and we have learned so much already. Our first were 3 Buff Orpingtons that we picked up in March of this year at the local feed store. But in the link below you’ll find our new girls that we ordered from http://www.meyerhatchery.com and are quite the assortment. We have a Salmon Favorelle (Collette), Olive Egger (Olive Oyl), Easter Egger (Esther), Black Australorp (Annie), and Black Copper Maran (Hershette, my husband’s idea lol).

It has truly amazed me at how much chickens of all ages love to have something to do. And the link below till take you to the video of our new crew enjoying what has become a daily ritual, a clump of grass. We have had them for 9 days and they are already trying to take a dust bath in the the dirt that they have scratched away from the grass. They love it! At first they were scared of it but now we put it in the box and they come running. Just too cute :)!

Ah such a great idea. I keep forgetting to do that for my littles so they have something to do. I've learned to put a roost in their brooder early cause they love to perch.
