Keeping Chickens Free Range

I can't speak to the economy ChickyChickens but SA is beautiful from what I've seen. Of course that was mostly the game parks but I'd love to go back!

This is how to make me green with envy,,,,,,, "go back".... Dang your so lucky to have been there once. If I ever win a lottery I am going to travel the remainder of my life away, there is so much to see!

LOL...im in South Africa...i have never seen snow or touched it!!! And it NEVER goes below 5 degrees celcius!! So i can have chicks the whole year round...lol

I have a feeling someone that has never even seen snow is going to have a grasping the concept of "dead of winter".

To that end I am willing to do a home exchange from Dec - Mar so free feather can learn about winter. Beings this is purely a magnanimous gesture on my part, I expect first class airfare and living expenses while in South Africa......

I am willing to bet you have never been ice fishing either...

YOU CHOSE to move there, just like some other of us. M states get cold, snow, period end of statement. If I ever win the lottery, will keep you in mind, 1st class, to SA, for however long they can keep you. DOESN'T sound like you staying there for a l-o-n-g time would be a problem...LOL

I, however, will improve what I have, buy up more and find Drs withOUT head trips! Oh, and get a couple more leghorns, PRs......LOL

No doubt to anything you say, except, If I went to SA they might kick me out as being undesirable. I would "buy" my daughter and son-in-law to move next door so I can see my Grand daughters at will, and have them around to take care of my chicks when I am away visiting SA, or Oz or wherever I go. Maybe even Montana!

I would surely look for 2000 acres where I could put my house in the middle of it so I would never see anyone unless I wanted too. As much as I like the pictures of the leghorn eggs, I would not buy more of them, but there are some birds I would buy. The more colorful or unique the bird or egg looks the more I would want it.

I would also increase my turkey flock by a hundred fold. I really like free range turkeys. Nothing give me more joy than going for a walk with my wife, my dogs and my Tom, but he does like to lead now and then.

I am indeed blessed, it was an amazing once in a lifetime experience. I dream of going back but it will probably never happen. If you ever get to do a safari you will never be able to look at a zoo the same way again.

You'd be welcome to MT but WHY? OH, YEAH, there is a lone T hen running around. Come Spring, you could add a few to your bunch. Not sure how they would transport to SA.
My area? Some good humans, small town nearby getting better, but still a L-O-T of closet space needed for those with MONUMENTAL hang ups..Speaking of Hanging Up.....
