How old do baby chicks need to be before its safe to keep them in an outside coop at night without heat. The chicks I'm referring to are barred rocks, buff orpingtons and rhode island reds.

When they are completely feathered, including no fuzz left on their little heads, they are ready to go live in the coop.

However, they can go to live in the coop before that if they have a heat source, especially at night when temps get down below 65 or 70F.
