Ducks are messy... and frankly they love to BE messy, i have 9 almost 2wk olds(wed/Thurs they turn that) and they adore to play in the mud.. so this desire starts out young!

lol yes! You shoulda seen mine when I was cleaning out their pool! Lets just say they loved to help!

Two of my girls are White Layers from Metzer Farms. They love to get covered from stem to stern with mud, grass clipping, and gawd knows what! It all seems to slide off though from a quick dip in the pond.
I use white pine shavings as the bedding in the coop. It's easy to clean up and lasts forever. They never emerge poopy in the morning!

My ducks love to lay in the muddy areas, I think for now it's to stay cool. We've had 105 days for 3 in a row. I've been changing out their swimming water 3 times a day cause it actually gets hot and then put ice cubes in a little drinking water bowl I keep by their food. When they were little and still in their wading pool with pine shavings....UNBELIEVABLY MESSY.. I used to refer to them as my little fuzzy piglets and slopping the hogs! I was so glad to be able to put them ouside!

They are so much fun though!
