I am about to put my chicks into our coop and the ducklings are about 2 weeks away.

I really want to try the deep little method with them. 7 chickens 4 ducks.

I was thinking of leaving water and food outside during spring summer and fall then brining it in during winter. We love in a cold climate in Alberta.

Any suggestions on deep little method with ducks and moisture management? What do you do when the water has to be inside to control moisture.

thanks for the help.

I tried the deep litter method with my flock and it just did not work out. Here in Tennessee it is hot and humid for long periods of time with a lot of rain. The coop became a stinking, sodden mess. and that's not having waterers inside. And with ducks... You'd definitely want to "invent" something to contain the water dishes so the whole coop doesn't become a wet mess.

For me, what works best, is to do a weekly, under the roosts, clean up and the whole coop as needed.
