Hello Everyone!
I have a rouen duckling who is a female and a male mallard. I was wondering if I can keep them together in the same enclosure/pen when they are older? Will they mate and make half breed ducklings? I only have room for these 2 ducks and can't get another rouen and mallard for them.

I keep Pekin, Khaki Campbell, Swedish, Buff and Cayuga ducks together without issue. Last spring I ended up with half a dozen mixed ducks from that group...lol. They are cute though.

Thank you for the quick response everyone! If they do breed, how will I know which eggs have ducklings and which don't? And which are okay to eat? Also if I take the eggs away from my duck would she be very upset?

You won't know which are fertile unless you crack it open and then there will not be a duckling [No ducklings unless you let her brood on the eggs if fertile.] So pick up her eggs daily and enjoy them Fertile eggs and non fertile taste the same. I don't think Rouens are considered a broody breed so most likely she'll lay her egg and get up and leave it.
