Hello! So we got a couple ducks along with our addition of 5 chicks yesterday. We want to raise them in the same area but the chicken starter is medicated so are there any ways I can keep the ducks out of the chicken feed until they’re old enough to switch to the layer feed?

I raised mine on medicated chick feed just added rooster booster for more niacin. I never had any problems raising mine on it. I'm not at all a pro only raised a couple hundred on it. I recently got back into ducks but just get the Purina duck starter feed because I didn't feel like mixing and grinding the other like I used to.

Ya I was just doing more reading on the whole medicated feed ‘myth’ apparently. I seperated the ducks and chickens as a precaution for now but apparently we got a sick duck and it didn’t make the night so have to go get another. These are my first two ducks we got Purina starter as well. Thanks for the reply!

I got 4 from there yesterday myself 3 mallard/rouen and one brown one like you have left. Does your brown one have a yellow ring on its neck and wing tips? And did they say what it may be I can't find anything that resembles it with the yellow on it.

I don’t think it does. I’ll have to look when I get out there after breakfast. It was late when we got them so everything was a red tint lol

I can tell you this about the ducks. If it were me I'd seperate the ducks out because they're really messy. They're goin to destroy the water bowls for the chicks and most of the water is gonna end up in the brooder with wet bedding. I use this for duck waterer. They can stick they're heads in but keep most water inside.
