Keeping ducks warm in extreme cold

Keep in mind that unless it's windy in with them, it should feel like what the actual temperature is. I have one of those remote thermometers in my hen house (the ducks are in a sectioned off area) with the receiver in the house. Right now we are having a warm spell, it's 21 (above 0F) and it's 33 degrees in the hen house. In a few days our high for the day will be -11. The building is insulated and typically stays about 10 to 15 degrees warmer than outside temps. I do have a rubber tub with a small water heater in with the ducks, though mine are bantam and not as messy. if you have larger ducks and put water in, you'll either need to keep up with the mess or find a way to keep them from getting into the water and splashing it out. you don't want them in a soaked area.
