Keeping eggs unfertile?

I don't want to eat them because my chickens are my pets and I don't eat my pets so eating a fertile egg would be hard for me. I know it sounds strange but who knows.

This thread is old, my friend. Just because the egg is fertile doesn't mean it's any different than a non fertile egg, just that in certain condition it will begin to grow.

There really is nothing to worry about, as long as you collect eggs daily, and keep them somewhere cool there is absolutely no chance of finding a chick in the shell.
The eggs look the same, and taste the same.

Hi I was wondering how I could keep my hens from laying fertile eggs with roosters around. I don't want to eat fertile eggs and I don't want to keep the roosters seperatley. I also can't get rid of the roosters because I'll need them to breed one day. Can anyone think of a good solution?

Forgive my curiosity, but why do you not want to eat fertile eggs?

I think you are very unlikely to get a reply. I have no idea why some think fertile eggs shouldn't be eaten, there's nothing wrong with them at all.

Some people think its nasty. I know some people that think its “cruel” to eat a fertile egg because your eating what could have been a chick.

Then again, those are the same very people who buy turkey in bulk and chicken nuggets.

I think some people also worry it may develop while sitting on the table. I heard a few stories of them being vained when cracked, though its not at all common because they need specific temps & humidity and all.
