thank you!I wondered...thought it was something like that. Cute idea.
I'm in the same boat! I love my hens and roo! They follow me like they are my dogs and my rooster sleeps on my porch lolI don't want to eat them because my chickens are my pets and I don't eat my pets so eating a fertile egg would be hard for me. I know it sounds strange but who knows.
This thread is old, my friend. Just because the egg is fertile doesn't mean it's any different than a non fertile egg, just that in certain condition it will begin to grow.I'm in the same boat! I love my hens and roo! They follow me like they are my dogs and my rooster sleeps on my porch lol
There really is nothing to worry about, as long as you collect eggs daily, and keep them somewhere cool there is absolutely no chance of finding a chick in the shell.I'm in the same boat! I love my hens and roo! They follow me like they are my dogs and my rooster sleeps on my porch lol
Forgive my curiosity, but why do you not want to eat fertile eggs?Hi I was wondering how I could keep my hens from laying fertile eggs with roosters around. I don't want to eat fertile eggs and I don't want to keep the roosters seperatley. I also can't get rid of the roosters because I'll need them to breed one day. Can anyone think of a good solution?

Some people think its nasty. I know some people that think its “cruel” to eat a fertile egg because your eating what could have been a chick.Forgive my curiosity, but why do you not want to eat fertile eggs?
Oh wow! I had no idea. This thread is old, from 2007.
I think you are very unlikely to get a reply. I have no idea why some think fertile eggs shouldn't be eaten, there's nothing wrong with them at all.
