Good morning, looking for tips on how to keep water from spilling all over the floor and soaking the litter. I’ve tried raising it on patio blocks,

What does your waterer look like? There are many different styles. A photo or link to a photo could help.

If it is one of the gravity fed type, often a red base or galvanized metal base screwed onto a plastic jar, they have to be very level. If they are slanted they don't seal right and the water runs out. That is a very typical problem, but only if you have that type.

If you have nipples sometimes they leak. Or maybe you have different type.

Hello and welcome. I am fairly new here, too, and just got some of the horizontal poultry nipples in the mail today... the ones from Muddy Hill Farm (not the red cross-shaped ones). So far they have completely surpassed all my expectations. They are totally leak free... even on the wall-hung water container inside my coop that I didn't mount very well and is tilted down. Also, my 5-week old chickens immediately started to peck at and drink from them... they seems to like them fine. Here is a short video of the water nipple newbies... Day 1 with the nipple drinkers. I really like these, and would recommend them to someone looking for a nipple-type waterer. The chick waterer I was using was constantly getting gunky and smelly, and soaking the pine shavings, and these Muddy Hill Farm nipples are clean, dry and easy for my chickens to use. :) Happy chickens, happy me!
