Hello, I was wondering what steps to take on keeping out unwanted guest under the hen house (mice, etc.) I thought about putting moth balls under coop, but I thought it might be to strong a smell. Any ideas any of you have would be appreciated! Thanks Lee:/

I would suggest digging around the henhouse.. and burying some hardware cloth or something like that. I know alot of people on here dig around the coop and use hardware cloth to keep predators out.

I second the "dig all the way around and put in hardware cloth". you could also use metal flashing.

If mice can get underneath, they can chew through the wood and get into the coop proper.

And if the mice can fit in, then the stoats can too. The stoats (and all the rest of the weasel family) can smush themselves into the smallest of holes and will kill every last chicken in one night.

Any mouse that has ever been unfortunate enough to enter my run has been swiftly devoured by my chickens... not a pretty sight!
