If you are free ranging guineas, don't mow or brush hog the grass unless you have them locked up. Not only will they not flee the tractor they will hunch down and hide. Running them over with a spinning blade is not a pleasant experience. I've never kept them but the farm across from the one I grew up on did and more than a few of them though that hiding in the grass where I couldn't see them was the best way to escape the hay mow. As far as wandering goes I used to frequently see them more than a half mile from their coop.
