Hi, Can I keep my chicks and ducklings together? They are all only about a couple/few weeks old.I was also wondering if I did keep them together,I know I cant give the ducks chick starter, but can I just feed the chicks game starter like the ducklings? And, How many times a day do I feed them? The last ones I had,I just kept food and water in the boxes all the time, they (the ducklings)were a major mess ALL the time.

Please let me know anyone, Thanks Kevin:D

Ducklings will get water everywhere, and chicks might run out of dry room in the brooder. I keep them together for the first 10 days or so, but then try to get the ducks their own space for the chicks sake.

OOOOPs....wait on the feeder. Medicated chick feed is toxic to ducks. You can feed both your chicks and ducks UNmedicated chick feed. Your ducklings will be much messier than your chicks, make sure the chicks have a dry area that may have to be duck free. Go to the Duck section in the index. Wifezilla was great in answering questions for me there:)

Well, now, it's my understanding that if it is medicated with amprolium, it is OK for ducks. In the past, a different med was used that WAS toxic to ducks. Hope someone knows for sure.

i use purina medicated starter on my chicks and ducks and they do fine on it. medicated food used to be toxic but they changed what was medicated.
