keeping water thawed

I know this is early but I have to stay a step ahead of things.We dont have electricity going to our coop and Iam wondering what you all do to keep water thawed.Thanks for help

We don't have electricty in our coop either. I know there are others on here without electricty in the winter and they go out twice a day and change the waterers. I'm thinking by fall, I'll be running some type of extension cord or that out to the coop so I can have some type of thawer, it's alot of work to get fresh water out twice a day in the winter!!

I use rubber bowls for the winter time. They are fantastic and basically unbreakable. If they freeze up you can turn them over and the whole chunk of ice plops right out. I got them from http://shilala.homestead.com/waterers.html I know its a pain to have to go out there and mess with the water but thats an alternative for people with no electricity. I fill them in the morning before work and then again after I get home.

I have a friend who does not have power and they went and got a battery box for boats. You put a deep cycle batt in it and shut the box and it has two power outlets on the out side so you can use the batt power for other things. I have one on my boat and love it. hope it helps

Has the batt box. You will then need a converter from the "power station" its the same as the cig lighter in a truck to an AC. I use somthing like this.

I get my battery boxes at any boat shop or sometimes sporting goods stores ie Sportsmans warehouse. And the inverters at Freddys or wallys or ebay for both also.

Also I would just get a metal waterer and use a reptile heat pad under it they are lower amps and thus making the battery last longer. And there are ways to use solar pannels to recharge battersys but I have no clue about that so sorry.
