Haha, you've picked your coop but not your house? That would be me! After I lost all my chickens, my mom said I shouldn't have anymore because she saw how it had upset me. To put it into context - I have never rang my mom up crying and I've been through a marriage break up! But when I lost those chickens I rang her up crying. She didn't know what was wrong with me! But to cut a long story short - I have to have chickens too. They make phenomenal pets. They give so much love. Henny is doing great thanks, we have been out into the garden today and she's had a scratch about. She did a weird thing where she went up to the the space where the old chickens were kept and she just stood and stared.. like she remembered. We've decided on the West coast of Scotland as a "landing strip", but we'll probably move somewhere else while we're there. It's hard to pick a spot to live when you're about 13 000kms away! My DH is worried, as I'm constantly on Zoopla looking at houses to rent and I reject everything that says "No pets" or hasn't got a back yard. Got to have chickens!I've actually already earmarked a coop I like (the biggest one I saw) and we haven't decided which town we're moving to yet. There's no hope for me.![]()
If your coop hasn't got a bottom you could/should tie some mesh to it and bury it, to prevent predators digging their way in.
How's Henny? And how are you feeling? Looking forward to meeting your new boys tomorrow? You must post pics!

I will definitely dig that run into the ground to stop anything from lifting it up.Can't wait to get my two little boys running around and let them meet Henny. I think she's very lonely going from 10 chickens to being alone.
I will post pictures!
