So. like a year or 2 back, one of my dad's friends gave him a kennel kit.. we set it up in the goat pen and never put it together.. my 'run' is rotting down and i needed a little bit better enclosure. so i convinced him to put it together. so we did. got it together without too much difficulty. it's like 6' x 8', 6' high. we're gonna put a top on it so it is coon proof. But. I need a coop. We're planning on this pen being portable. So i can have a tractor sort of pen. no wheels or anything. Just going to kinda lift/drag it around and let my birds fertilize my garden and such. Problem is. Building the hen house. It's got to be lightweight. But at the same time, durable. I need nest boxes that are accessible from the inside of the pen, but the outside of the coop. like a door where i can reach in and get eggs. It's also got to have a wire bottom to let the poop fall down to the ground. and roosts. and a ladder for the birds to come down on the ground but go up in the house during the night to roost. and i want the ladder to be able to latch back up at night just in case. Ok that sounds like a tall order. I need pictures folks! I would so appreciate if y'all would post pictures on here if you have something similar to what i'm asking for. It'd help a lot for my dad to get a visual of what i want built. Thanks in advance for your help!

in the south.. doesn't really need anything 'winterized'. we never really have much trouble with the cold.

How many birds, and bantam or LF?
Also, I understand about dragging the kennel around, because I have one that's about 6 x 12, and it's not too hard to drag. However, no matter how light the construction, how are you going to drag the shelter and the run?? One person inside and one out?? The door on my dog run is quite narrow (maybe 24 inches???). So are you wanting something narrow enough to remove from the kennel before you drag it elsewhere?? Do you see what I'm saying/asking?

It's actually going to be part of the pen itself. My dad (the carpenter/handy man) says we can build it 'into' the kennel. that way there won't be as much trouble moving it. It's going to be bantams. I don't really like the LF. i've got a basic idea of what i want. i'm just wondering if anyone has any pictures of their shelters that are similar to what i'm looking for so i can have a visual aid to work with.

Check this out. It might give you some ideas. You can hang it on a tree or fence.

THese are NOT my pictures but some I have saved from BYC because I liked their designs. So whoever came up with them, they are great.

should give you some ideas. Wish I could figure out HOW they attached those wheels to the chain link dog kennel.........................???????

yeah... the kennel pic is a great one.... but i just can't figure out how it's set up.... the metal looks to be on the inside and outside of the kennel.... idk how they could do that without actually removing some of the chain link wire
