My Khaki Campbell hen has recently been laying squishy eggs. I read somewhere your supposed to give them oyster shells to strengthen the shell of the egg. It has extra calcium in it, I think.
Well, my question is, is it harmful if I let my male eat the same food with the oyster shells mixed in?

I would recommend a side dish of oyster shell. The female can eat to her heart's content, and the drake will likely ignore it.

Too much calcium is rough on his system, just as too little is not good for her. But a free choice bowl is the way many, many people resolve the problem. There are a few who say it doesn't matter, but I tend to be more cautious.

It can, so just offer a bowl of the oyster shells separately. The girls will just grab what they need when they need it. When you mix it with the feed there is always a risk of either adding too much or too little.

Thank you for clearing that up for me, I truly appreciate it!
