Hi all,

I had 5 khaki Campbell duck eggs, 4 have hatched… 3 on day 28 and the other on day 30. This egg below is the last one to hatch, has anybody any clue what is going on with it?

It hasn’t pipped at all and it seems to be stuck to one side of the egg there appears to be no movement that I can see of.

Can anyone give me any advice on what to do? I am very much new to this and this is the first time I’ve hatched any ducklings.

TIA!

Alex

The air cell looks a little large, plus it's on the side like you mentioned. You could give it another day or two if you wanted to be sure though as you don't always see them moving and it could just be a late one.

Were the eggs being rotated? I imagine so or your other ones wouldn't have hatched.

Congrats on your new ducklings!!

Oh, and welcome to BYC too!

Being day 31 with no internal pip, no movement, I have to wonder if this baby is gone. With an air cell that far back, baby might be / might’ve been malpositioned, perhaps preventing them from pipping.

There’s not much you can do without an internal pip. You could give it more time if you’d like, but don’t feel too bad if this one’s gone. Sounds like you did your first hatch well ❤️
