I went to the feed store and got 4 ducklings that are dark khaki campbells. They are the cutest and sweetest ducks. I'm amazed at how people friendly they are!!! I've have pekings and runners in the past and they were so flighty but these are such cuddlers. I will post pics later I promise. Now I tried sexing them by their voices and dispositions and think I got 3 females and one male which I would be thrilled with but how do I know for sure?? I heard something about the bean on the nose??

I tried to sex mine and was completely baffled until their plumage came in. When I noticed the dark heads on the males, I knew for sure. The drake feather and voice QUACK! as opposed to hmwheek, hmwheek works, but it took the plumage for me to know for sure.

It seems to take forever before they get big enough that you can tell the boys from the girls! I used to have Khaki Campbells but mine were a bit flighty compared to my Buff Orpingtons--- flighty as in crazy, and flighty as in they flew over a 6 foot fence to get out of their pen when I wanted to catch them. I think I didn't handle them enough when they were in the brooder.

Now I've got some Khaki Campbell hatching eggs so I'm going to see if I do a better job of raising them this time....
