We have flock of 50 mixed breed chickens, old and young, including a few bantams, totally free-range.. Until last year we had call ducks and always had them with the chickens. We had broody hens hatch out call duck eggs when the ducks stopped setting and hens raising ducklings. We didn't clip the ducks' wings. Predators took the last of our ducks.
Now I'd like to order some Khaki Campbell ducks from Murray McMurray but when I asked MM about keeping the ducks with chickens they said no--different needs etc .I've never had Khaki Campbells. I'd like to hear about anyone's experience and recommendations with this breed in a very mixed flock. Thank you!

Some people keep duck with chickens happily - some people swear against it.
I think it will be okay if you have no roosters or drakes, because the two breeds could hurt each other if they try to mate. But again, some people do keep drakes/hens roosters/ducks together with no problems.
Because ducks are so messy, some people keep them separately from chickens during the day, and herd the two flocks together at night; vice versa (Meaning people also may keep them together during the day, separate them at night).
I look forward to seeing some experienced input, but I hope I helped!

We have 40 chickens and 3 Rosters we just got 7 baby khaki Campbell’s who are very happy in a big tub on my dinning room tableright now! Would like to hear about how others have raised ducks and chickens together?
