Khaki Campbell x Welsh Harlequin/Questions

Has anyone bred a KC drake with WH ducks??
Have any pictures of the offspring?


We have a 2yr old KC drake named Colonel who I plan on breeding with our female WH once they're old enough. I've been trying to search up any results of the pairing but have found nothing. I just want an idea of what they might look like.

They look like light colored Khaki Campbell’s but with eye stripes. Assuming your Welsh Harlequin is a Silver Welsh, the cross you mentioned with the Khaki as the drake is a sex-linked cross. The males will hatch with dark, blackish down the females with brown down. Here is a picture of my Welsh x Khaki ducklings, you can tell the boys from the girls.

Unfortunately, I gave these ducklings to a friend and a raccoon killed all but one. She is back with me now. This is her (her webbing was torn by the raccoon on her left foot):

She lays really well. Big eggs like my Welsh but more often.

Mine, in the picture is a silver. If the patches on the wings are blue, not brown, they are silver, it is more common.

They're currently 4 weeks old so I'll have to wait until they feather out completely.

No, both carry only brown and would have only brown ducklings. A gold Welsh with a non-brown duck (Silver Welsh, Mallard, Swedish, etc.) would be though.

Hi. I’d like to chime in here. I know this is an older thread but I have a Silver Welsh Drake that I’ve bred with KC hens and I get a variety of colors out of the ducklings. I’ve had brown, black, dusky, and brown with a little yellow mixed in (sort of calico).

My drake also breeds with my mature SWH ducks. I’ll post some pics soon to show the variety. I do have one from someone who hatched some of my eggs. I have fifteen 1-2 day old babies at home right now.

I also have a young drake that is a cross of the KC hen and the SWH drake. I purchased six SWH females that just started laying. I’m anxious to see what their offspring will look like.

Do you have any idea?

Your silver Welsh drake must be heterozygous or split for brown. It is the only way you can get brown ducklings from that cross. Your young drake will also be split and you should get similar results. If they breed with silver Welsh ducks any gold harlequin ducklings are girls, silver could be either.

I haven’t made it home yet from work lol but as soon as I get there I can send recent pics. Here are a few I found on my phone. The juvenile dark drake is a mixed breed. Ducklings are both mixed and pure.
