Hello!

Its been a while since I've posted. I added 3 Black Jersey Giant pullets, 2 white Legged Pullets, 3 Khaki Campbell's and one unknown little black duck to my flock.

I'm hoping for at least one male with my ducks. Can anyone help? Also, are there any guesses as to what this lil' black beauty is? He/she has some green edging on its wings and head.

I've read how to sex the ducks, I just never did it. Hoping their coloring may be the tell tale sign at this point? There is no tail feather curling yet, but not sure what age that happens at.

Could you check the bottom of their feet for bumblefoot?

What's bumblefoot?

Edit below:

I just looked it up. That doesn't look very nice. They aren't in the coop area during the day (I do have an actual coop. That's just the fenced in outside area). I let them roam the yard and swim in the brook behind my home. I have just under an acre of land so there's lots of grassy space for them to enjoy.

The way your run looks, there is a good chance they may have it. It's a staph infection on the bottom of their feet, usually caused by rough, dirty, or wet bedding/run. It wouldn't hurt to look.

Thanks for the tip. I'll check them later. As mentioned above, that isn't where they spend most of the time. I would love to put some kind of grass seed in there and make it a lot nicer. I inherited the coop when I bought the house in August. I did try to put some special grass seed in there but they at it all. I have to figure out a way to block off an area at a time to do that.
