Thanks for the tip. I'll check them later. As mentioned above, that isn't where they spend most of the time. I would love to put some kind of grass seed in there and make it a lot nicer. I inherited the coop when I bought the house in August. I did try to put some special grass seed in there but they at it all. I have to figure out a way to block off an area at a time to do that.

I've got an area of my run blocked off for growing grass right now. This is the second area I've blocked and it's almost ready for me to let them loose in it.

I just put up some temporary fencing and it doesn't even have to be tall. Just enough to keep them out.

After this week I'll probably let them in the new grassy area and I'll block off the last area. When we built the big run last fall using an auger to set all the 4 x 4's in tore up every blade of grass that was there.

It's really easy to do but you've got to be patient and really let the grass get a good hold before you let the little destroyers back in it.
