Khaki Campbells Gender?

Both of the Khakis stand up tall and talk at the same time and the two Pekins join in. Pekins are LOUD!!!! So I have not been able to really hear a difference in sound. They both tend to talk at the same time. Like a competition. :) Where their voices use to be very soft and raspy, the volume has definitely increased and so has the sound. Higher sound, not so and Godfather like.

Yeah, neither have master the final drake feather curl yet.

So we shall see....should know for sure in another few weeks. :)

The bottom one, with its dark head, is definitely a male and I have raised Khaki Campbells in the past with the males looking just like him. The duck on the top is more difficult to sex but I'd lean toward drake on that one too.

Thanks Jed!

In a few more weeks, I should know for sure. Unless I can catch my brown colored friend and get him to talk. And I'm sure he will have a few things to say if I catch him! But then so will all the other duckies!!!

I'm trying to be patient about my Pekins. They are 15 weeks old this week. Still no sign if they are girl or boy. :) One use to fan the tail feathers, but stopped doing that when the Brat Pack took one of the prized tail feathers. Now they both keep their feathers in a tight bunch in the back unless swimming or grooming.

Trying to sex my ducks but having no luck at the moment, keep hoping I have 8 females and 2 males but don't know for sure any help?

They are beautiful ducks. Looks like they still have their duck fuzz on. How old are they?

Probably WAY too early to tell, without checking their bums. Can you wait a bit until there's a better tell? With my Khakis, I had visual clues at about 2.5 months to indicate the gender.

With my Pekins, who are 15 weeks old, still no clue. *sigh* At about 4 months old, the ducks do a complete molt and get all new duck feathers. And that includes the drake feather curl, if they are boys. My two Khakis (one is definitely a male based on coloring) has the tail feather curl sometimes. It comes and goes. Once he goes through the molt, it should stay. My other Khaki has pigtails (two curls) that come and go. Still not sure about that one's gender. Those guys are 14 weeks old.

Are you planning to rehome the extra ducks? Harvest them?

Don't know yet but there's a school for disabled children that want one or two so we will see

You can tell the gender of Khaki Campbells and similarly colored ducks as soon as they have their feathers above their tails. Males will have solid, dark feathers and females will have two-toned, pencilled feathers. I can't really tell in your picture but you should be able to tell on all but the white ones.

If I'm right by this I have 3 males 6 females and 1 unknown the white one thinking it's a pekin but not sure how that's possible because the fella only does khaki campbells

cheezenkwackers - thanks for the info! Did you see my original post with pics? Would you be able to identify gender based on the pics from June 23?

I know one is clearly a male now. The other one - probably a male, although different coloring. They are same age.

Dave Murphy - I think Pekins have orange bills. Maybe the white duck is a still a khaki...maybe mixed with another breed?
