Hello. I hope I am putting this in the right thread.
I just came in from checking my birds and one of my Khaki hens is doing a wheezing/gasping sound. She's still moving around, but I haven't seen her eat or drink yet. I came right in to do some research. I took some videos but I can't get them uploaded.
I'm trying to tell if she has lost some weight but she feels she same weight as one of my other hens.
The first thing I found that matched the symptoms was gapeworm. I don't know what else to look up. She's the only one like this. Any thoughts on what it could be would be very helpful.
Thank you

Okay I think I did the video right.

She's moving some but not super active. I think I'll separate her so that the male doesn't try to mount her.

Did you check her for an obstruction? feel along her neck look in her mouth? Listen to her chest for congestion?
I'd def keep her from the drake right now. maybe put another female in with her for company.
Could be respiratory not sure gape worm is that prevalent in Water fowl. Lets see if @casportpony I one and see what she thinks great video of what she is doing.

I felt along her throat and I didn't feel anything. I tried to gently put my finger down her mouth but she definitely resisted and I didn't want to hurt her.

Do you hear any congestion? Any drainage from nares or eyes? And is vet feasible? You could worm @casportpony can help with that. But it could also be respiratory.

I can't tell if it is respiratory or not. I tried listening to her lungs but all I can hear is the wheezing in her throat. There is no drainage from her nose or eyes.

I'm not sure about trying any dewormer because none of them sound like they will be useful since the works can get used to them. I'm at a loss though. I really don't want to lose this little girl. She's only a year and I hate to see her so stressed.
