(1) Are you new to chickens / when did you first get chickens?

The chickens that live on the property live on are free roaming chickens who are owned by the neighbour.

The previous place I lived at raised some chickens to use for eggs so that was my first 'real' experience around chicks & chickens.

(2) How many chickens do you have right now?

On the property there are 13 total. 1 rooster 3 chicks 1 toddler chicken and 8 hens most of which are pretty old.

(3) What breeds do you have?

Mixed I suspect, one of the reasons I wanted to join was to ask if anyone could figure out what the mixes might be.

(4) What are your favorite aspects of raising backyard chickens?

Because they free roaming seeing them forage constantly and having them roost up high in trees is awesome.

5) What are some of your other hobbies?

Photography!

(6) Tell us about your family, your other pets, your occupation, or anything else you'd like to share.

There are 2 cats we have & they've been way more well behaved with the chickens & chicks than I would've expected. They give eachother space and the hens let them know when they're too close.

(7) Bonus: How did you find BYC, how long have you known about BYC, and what made you finally join our awesome community? :D

Found the forum last year when trying to figure out exactly what the chicks where we had at my last place because they didn't quite look right to me. Now its just the place I come back to to figure out what the hens we have here are.

Hello, any and all types haha. Digital mostly but also film photography. Landscape, animals, street etc. Tend to avoid people photography or studio but I have briefly partaken in that side too
Hello and welcome to BYC! There isn't a better place for learning how to raise your poultry. Ask as many questions as you want, but remember to have a little fun too. :woot

Please send some wildlife photos to our thread in the Hobbies section! The thread is called "Wildlife Photography" 👍
