Kid friendly chickens.

You could even get several different kinds if you wanted to. I have Buff O's and Rhode Island Reds (both of which I am very happy with, although the RIR's are more friendly than the Buffs and I thought it would be the other way around.)
I couldn't decide between them! This spring I'm planning on adding some Welsummers to the flock.

We have wyandottes and love them. I have not had one ill tempered bird in the wyandottes. Some of the other ones were somewhat grumpy, but not mean. Roosters on the other hand, have been very ill-tempered. I have had RIR and EE roosters that tasted great. The huge blue splash wyandotte had nothing but a gentleman to me and the hens. My husband witnessed him running off a hawk.

My favorites whould be the Faverolles they are on the small side lay med. size eggs (mine lay everyday accept for one who lays every other day) and my rooster is even friendly. And they chatter alot

I've never owned a Domique but I've hear they can be mean but if you like that style then a Barred Rock would be perfect... Any that I have had have always been real sweethearts. I've had male and female.

This is how tame our BRs are

Get some of each! That will certanley give you a colorful flock, but if you want to get just one breed then get the easter eggers. I have had them since I six, very friendly birds, and since you are getting them from a feed store that means they are easter Eggers, as a plus that will also give you a colorful flock.

Wow, cthrash1 ..... that's what I am hoping for this time around.

They were both handled as chick quite a bit... Raoul was an Ideal packing peanut... He impressioned himself very strongly on our daughter so when it was time to rehome the PPs, she marked his leg so he wouldn't be included. He was a true gentleman and an excellent protector.
