Hi I have a 1 week old goat (mother died) so the twins she had now have to be bottle babies the biggest is doing fine but the youngest has bad scour for two days now and isn't taking to the bottle at all. I gave an electrolyte solution and he just seem to start peeing it out straight after taking it?!?! Also is it 10% of their body weight that I should be feeding each day? They weigh 70 ounces so then 7ounces a day? That seems like not a lot to me 🤔 the healthy kid would drink much more thanks for any help

I would call a Veterinarian. That sounds serious. A goat with scours can die quickly without intervention.

Did you give colostrum?
Been awhile since I had a baby goat.

I've been reading...try using a syringe to feed the goat milk but call the vet and ask about the scours.

Hello, I just went through this with my bottle baby when I fed her too much milk. You need to be feeding only 3-4 oz per 5 pounds of bodyweight. At one week old, it should be every 4 hours. You should not cut out the milk feedings but supplement with it electrolytes to keep hydrated. I also used Scour Guard to help stop the scours and cover any e coli issues. Are you feeding regular milk/formula or goat milk. I only use and suggest real goat's milk even the store bought goat milk is better than whole milk. My go to website for questions is Fias Co Farms or Tennessee Meat Goats have a lot of available information when no one is responding quickly.
