Kiddie pool for chickies ??

Its pretty hot today here in eastern NC and is only supposed to get hotter this weekend.I was wondering if I got one of those plastic kiddie pools do you think they would get in it or would they be to scared of it and just drink out of it

I have two chickens that cool their feet off all day long in a lid to one of those big plastic Xmas containers. It holds about one inch of water and the vet told us to do it after our girls got overheated and it’s been two years now and they put their feet in the kid at least 10 times a day year round and our temp rarely reaches over 80-90. Vet said once chicken is in 85 degrees or above they can overheat and die, so this lid is just the right amount to cool them and keep them safe.

Good move!
Even better is huge chunks of ice that last all day.
Drained and rinsed each evening.

Make room in your freezer!

I tried this for one of my flocks, and they never wanted anything to do with it while it had cold, clean water. After a few days, once it was full of poop and mud, then they'd wade in it and drink it.

Just edited my post to include dumping and rinsing each evening.

So sorry to hear about losing your chick. I lost one last week to an infection. Heartbreaking , especially when raising from birth.
