Kidnapping and murder *update*

I found a pile of feathers in the yard, and a trail of feathers leading off into the woodline. Broad daylight. Fox?

Coulda been a hawk too. I lost one of my hens about a month ago and found her feathers in big piles from my yard to the neighbors yard. Neighbor saw the hawk take the hen down and drag her around while he shredded her.

Sounds like fox to me.

Ugh! It is a fox. Just got another one and I saw it happen. I ran out with the rifle, but he was disappearing around the side of the barn. My puppy went after it, but he is 5 months old. Sigh! I will be sitting on my kids balcony with the .22 today.

I just decided on the 30-30 with the scope. That fox has me mad. I know you will lose a few with free ranging, but two in two days? Grrr!

Do you have a secure run where you can keep your chickens for a couple of days? Might be easier to get the fox if it's concentrating on trying to get into the coop rather than when it has snatched a bird and is running away.
