I have three kids- 3, 5 and 7. I have let them hold the chicks since they came but every once in a while they will get scared and drop a chick. I usually have the kids sit down to hold them so the drop isn't so high.

. Chicks can handle a lot I would just remind the kids to be gentle and that they are babies.
