One of my colleagues is a surgeon and he will not perform any elective surgery on a person until they have been free of the use of antibacterial products for several weeks because he has determined, anecdotaly at least, that patients that use them seem to get more infections in surgical sites. Those good cooties fight the bad ones. That said, he uses them and so do I, but with limits and instead I sanitize surfaces more (not that you can santitize a chicken...). I think a good warm soap and water is best, but I use sanitizer when that is not convenient. Anyone else remember when we would drink from a hose? Now that is gross... now that I know what is inside many of those hoses.
