Little bean-shaped lumps of sugar syrup in a slightly firm shell. I believe that the shell is made by tumbling the centers, which are made in cornstarch molds, with sugar and maybe a bit of syrup.

I agree, but i’ve just never met anybody who hasn’t heard of them.

I think it’s a brand of jelly beans.

It is. The factory is about an hour's drive away from me. A few years ago I visited the factory for my birthday. They do tours and you can pick up bags of "woops" jelly beans for really cheap. They may be shaped funny, but they taste just as good.
I think the watermelon flavoured ones are my favourite.
