"Best sell by dates, and expiration dates," are a just a marketing ploy.

They are Federal requirements that are a guideline but not an absolute. Some products are bad before they reach the stated dates while others may well be usable years later depending on how they are stored.

Difference of opinions. My opinion is that Hostess Twinkies were never edible.
