Today there was an advertisement on CL for a free white duck, six weeks old.
So the story goes they have a pond and they bought 4 ducks. At age 4 1/2 weeks, they threw them outside and expected them to live on the pond and prosper, I think. Well coyotes got the other three and they advertised this one before coyotes got it too.
Poor dear still cheeps/quacks and has some down. I cant imagine being throw outside at 4 1/2 weeks, with no protection or anything whatsoever. But anyway, I need to take pictures, I have her in quarantine, she is VERY unhappy, but at least she is SAFE. So much for my plan of only having pure breeds but I couldnt resist the poor dear.
So I got an Easter present!
They also gave me what was left of a 40 lb bag of feed, probably 15 lbs at least.
By the way, Sioux City has a CL ad for a free goose or they will use him/her for target practice if not gone pronto. If I lived closer I would pick it up in a heartbeat but its close to Neligh, for anyone in that area, Newman Grove it said.
