Hello!
This is my first official post on BYC. However let me tell you, I've been here a long time. A lurker. Reading away. I've decided to take the plunge and create an account so I could join in on the conversation.
So lets see…I've wanted chickens for a while. I just got in the position to own them about 3 months ago. And now I have 35 chickens roaming my yard
. The chicken math:
Got 6 day old layer pullets.
Husband decided he want breeds other than the ones I got, so we got 6 more pullets.
Then got 10 Cornish X. (Lost one @2weeks and processed a lame one at 4 weeks) With a rooster for the hens and a mystery chick thrown in for good measure
Followed by 10 Freedom Rangers (One of those went lame as well).
And picked up 3 young cockerels to grow out for the table,
And 3 old hens to do this weekend!
I love chickens! They're just so….practical. Eggs, meat, pest control, fertilizer, lawn mowers, entertainment.
That's all I have for now. Have an awesome day all!
