I am new to the chicken world. I bought 10 chicks from the flee market and here we are 4 months later and I ended up with 2 hens and 8 roosters. One of the hens has laid a total of 18 eggs and I have 14 of them in the incubater. So I really need to know how to tell their sex.

Depends on what breeds you have as to how soon you can tell gender. Some have to be months old before you have a clue.

I was watching Dirty Jobs and they said that you can tell by the feathers, if they are all the same size it's a male and if every other one is shorter it's a female. Is this true?

I'm assuming when you say bearded rock you are meaning barred rock? If so, in the BYC search bar type in "Rhode Island Barred Rock Cross: and see what you get.

Young chicks are always a gamble (sex wise) and the cheaper the price the more likely they will be cockerels.
