I have a deal with some friends - they save kitchen scraps for my chickens and I trade them eggs. I gave them a large plastic bucket to toss stuff in, and trade out another bucket when I pick up the scraps. All was fine through the winter, but now that the weather is warmer I'm wondering if this is still ok. I don't want the scraps to mold and get nasty, but we do our drop off once a week and I'm not sure this will work in the summer.

Anyone have any ideas? I'd like to keep the scrap snacks coming!

Yeah too long. Even in the winter if it's kept in the house. Can you go to twice a week if kept refrigerated? or once a week if frozen?
Great that you have friends that will do that.

yes, I think I knew the answer to this one! :) The main reason we do buckets is that I'm trying to cut down on all the plastic bags people give me with their scraps. The buckets are great, but don't fit into a family refrigerator. hmm......will have to come up with other ideas for the new seasons I guess!
