Knitted Sock technique?

Do any of you clever knitters knit 2 socks at a time? I've been reading about doing it on one long circular needle. It sounds like it gets mixed reviews especially from those who originally have done it on dpns. I'm thinking maybe if it's the first way I learn to do it there will be fewer single socks in the world!
