Knot on my hens back?

I have a hen that I have not had very long. I got it and another hen from an old man that did not have time for them and was going to kill them. Any way. When I got them she was having trouble walking and had a bad cut on her foot that was full of poo and mud. I got it cleaned out and she seemed to be getting better but now has a LARGE knot on her back. It is on her left side under the top of her wing. It is about the size of a large egg and is kind of soft. When you touch it she trys to get away like it hurts. Any ideas? The other hen seems to be doing fine.

Maybe an infection???

Totally a guess. I hope she gets better. They sell antibiotics for poultry at the feed store if you think it is an infection (also at jefferslivestock.com).
