Kraienkoppe

I'm looking for something rare and different for my chick order this spring.
I'm building an order for Ideal and will mostly be raising chicks for friends but also a few for myself.
can anyone tell me anything about Kraienkoppes? I'm not finding MUCH on the web.
Curious about temperament and how well they lay?
there is nothing on them on the Henderson chicken chart.
I have done some reading on the web, any backyard chicken member share their experience?

Try google "Twents hoen" or "Twentse grijze".
That's the dutch name of this breed that was bred at the dutch german border.

My trio are descended from Sandhill stock via someone who acquired from them.

I would describe them as having the look of the Games, but without the John Wayne attitude of "he needed killin". The rooster is alert, acts "spunky" but is very typical backyard rooster in "fight"- he quits quick if he thinks he is not going to win and can be part of a flock containing many other roosters.

The hens are excellent setters(FAR better than most hens actually) and mothers. Production not that high.. higher than Games but nowhere near RIR. Eggs rather small.

Temperament of both sexes are slightly aloof, but not "sqawky" at all. Raised free range, they are the most excellent free rangers- right up there with Games actually. I had a batch of youngsters who were raised by free range hens and they beat all other breeds here for foraging on their own- both in "seeking" for food and how far and actively they ranged. The trio I have were kept cooped and were very good at coming back in there to roost nights when they were finally let to roam. So I'd say they probably are adaptable.

Overall, I do admire these birds.

My concern is, some pictures of American birds appear to be crosses/mixes with Games(they should not be skinny birds- mine are not quite heavy but not slender n' trim). So I would have some concern about whether the hatchery stock has been kept more or less pure or recently/heavily mixed with Games.
