La Fleche Thread ~ PIC of my Black La Fleche

I have a pair from Toni Marie too. Mine are off white with black specks and the cockerel carries chocolate. We need to work together and share some eggs when they're all laying. I'd love to have a black pullet

I am especially interested in hearing from those of you who know the breed. Some heads of my 5 cockerels I have kept for now (2 views of each bird); please tell me which head & comb you like best and why:
(Thanks in advance)

Nice birds. I eventually want to get a rooster and mix him with my augsburger hens. La flache was used when it was developed. Haven't been able to find any locally yet.

I am really no expert on these birds, but I have kept them for a couple of years.None of them are what I'd call shabby.
All the cocks seem to have nice even black feathers and good 'snouts'.Cock number 4 has asymmetric comb 'horns' and less white ear lobes, so I would not favour him.
Cock 5 looks a handsome fellow with great wattles.Cocks 1 and 2 also look to be fine fellows
Cock 3 has prongs which seem to point forwards rather than stay erect.

So I'd be happy with 1,2 and 5, but wouldn't turn my nose up at the other two, either.

My current cock has prongs which are very vertical and when I can master both my new camera and my new computer,I'll post a pic. of Young Nick.

Chris, not sure what the pullets are looking like. But I like #4 because of its spikes being held closer together. It is asymmetric, but I think I would use that one over the others in certain circumstances because of the tight comb. That being said, I think #3 has a better head. The wattles, ear lobes, beak and skull look better. It may be something where you gauge the pullets, or hens, to make certain pairings.

And I am happy to see you have protuberances on the cavernous nostrils, definitely a good sign.

I guess everyone has a bit of a differing opinion. But they don't look nearly as bad as I would have expected.

I think #3 is my favorite of them. Good head, "Pendulous" wattles. Its comb may not be incredible, but I do like the way it is being held(split comes far back, not suddenly).

Chris can you get full body shots. I know you mentioned you didn't like the way the wings hold at the moment and that they are on the small side. I want to see if maybe the wings would look better against a body with more substance.

Edit- the more I look them over, the more I like 5. I think all are good Breeder options. I'd still like to get a trio or pair from you if possible this fall. Maybe you could sell the others at the Columbus show if you able to show up.

I will get some body shots this weekend if I have time. I think you could be correct about the wings and body. I selected the males (as they were all about the same size) on their combs, white earlobes -- all are pretty equal on other traits anyway.
