Hello everybody. Minnimoo here from Northern Spain just starting out living the life in beautiful Galicia. We are renovating an old stone house, a stone bodega, shortly to become the pig barn with attached woodland for forraging, and organizing the garden and orchard. I am goinb to be the one looking after animals so I have been gathering information about chickensgfor several years so I can, as it were, hit the ground running. I have decided to gk with a Galician breed, Mos, which is reputed to be a good all rounder and intend to grow as much food for them as I can on our 1 acre plot. I have yet to build a coop and am looking at designs that I can use and dont kntend to stock until I have staarted to grow feed and have the facilities to process and store meat.
We also rescue boxers (the dogs not the pugalists) and Range Rovers......
Apart from that we have another house neerby that my husband wants to renovate using only recycled materials with a huge barn which we will be using as a garage and workshop. The house is typical in that it has understorey rooms for animals with a small backyard which i want to use as a prepper pantry and raising xmas turkeys.
So my time will be pretty much taken up with all of that as well as knitting, clothes making , jewellery making and painting. Whenever did I find time to work?

Each week, various topics are discussed, which can also be a great resource - https://www.backyardchickens.com/a/topic-of-the-week-thread-archive

Greetings and welcome to BYC Minimoo! So glad you joined us. If hat's "retirement" for you, maybe going back to work would be more "relaxing"? Seem like you've got a pretty full plate there. I'll be you won't get bored! Anyway, there's a wealth of info, knowledge and experience shared in the multitude of threads. Browse around and see what interesting stuff you can find. By all means post away when the desire strikes you, especially if you have questions (provide as much detail/info as possible and pictures truly help)... With all the great folks here, generally someone will respond in no time at all. Please make yourself at home!

Oh, if you haven't done so already, PLEASE put at least your general location in your profile. It could be very important if/when you ask for or offer help or advice. You know, climate issues and such. Old folks like me :old will never remember & look there first. To add it, mouse hover over Account top right and a drop down will appear. Click on Personal Details and scan down. You'll see the spot for Location. Then go to the bottom and save changes. Thanks! Hope you enjoy the site!
