Gosh, my daughter wanted me to ask the group if chickens have labor pains when they lay an egg. We watched one of the hens lay an egg and it reminded both of us of our labor when giving birth. She would push and rest and push and rest until finally the egg popped out. My daughter asked me if hens feel labor pains and I have no idea. [IMG]
Anyone have any thoughts on this? How do hens know they are ready to lay an egg?
    Thanks,

Well.....im sure it is uncomfortable...maybe painfull...but im sure not intense pain. Might be for some that lay the HUGE one once in a while tho. I dont know.....Hmmm...they DO squack alot afterwards...maybe just to celebrate.
