Labored Duck Breathing

She is not improving. Still laying eggs but we are on day 3 of Safeguard so thinking it’s not gapeworm. Day 2 of Baytril so will keep going on that one. BUT… I just realized that she may have a lung fungal infection because we did lay some chip bark in their yard within the last two weeks. There was some dampness in the bark so I’m now worried about aspergillosis. Trying to figure out a way to get an anti fungal when we don’t have an avian vet in our area. Any ideas?

I think it was @KaleIAm who treated a duck with asper, and she had pictures of the set up they used to treat.
Also, do you have Oxine ah?

Yes, my duck had it - diagnosed by a vet. Here's a video of the odd sound she made.

I posted a photo of the nebulizer chamber I made for my duck here:

We also used itraconizole. I know you don't have an avian vet, but maybe you could get a farm vet to or another vet to prescribe it? When another duck of mine started making the same noise we started her on oral antifungals right away and she got better within weeks.

This is the most amazing info ever - THANK YOI. I love it that I may be able to treat her with a safe, non-Rx nebulized treatment instead of an Rx antifungal that may not even work. I already ordered the oxine AH and I’m borrowing a nebulizer machine from a friend.

Thx for the video. My duck is making more of a wheezing sound than a high-pitched squeak.
I’m trying to get my (people) MD friend to prescribe Itraconozole which is also used in humans. At the very least, for now I will try the 3X/daily nebulized treatment with Oxine AH. Thank you for providing info on the plastic bin and neb set up. Funny that I am a pediatric RN who gives respiratory treatments to kids all the time but never to a duck. It’s worth a shot! We’ve had chickens for 12 years but we are new to ducks, since the pandemic - so this is new territory for us.
