So, I was hoping for a broody this week. Hoping so bad, because I wanted to time it the first week of spring break when I'd have time. Today, my wish was granted. My little girl Lacy wouldn't get off her nest. She's a very skittish little girl, flees if you come within two feet of her. I poked her and prodded her. She didn't move and did the famous broody squawk. I was there with my cousins, we jumped up and did a happy dance we were so excited! Let's just hope she stays.

I'll keep this updated with posts, and maybe some stories of Lacy in the chicken coop.

This is the girl, a rather old photo from around when I first got her and before she started to lay. She was hiding in the straw storage thing. I brightened the pictures a bit because it was a bad picture of her too. Can anyone tell me what quality she is? I don't mind that much because she's an awesome girl anyways.

Today is: Day 1

Haha, thanks guys. She just quit on me today though...

Oh well, I set up a 'broody trap'. I placed eggs up in the hay storage thing when my hens aren't allowed to go because I was afraid of getting a broody in there. So hopefully it works? Meanwhile I'll just keep a diary about Lacy!

Edit: We have a lot of snow today, will make for some interesting pictures. Plus, last time I had two girls broody for at least a week, was when we had a giant snow storm!
