Ladder Inside Coop

I'm curious as to whether I should place my chicken ladder that goes up to the roost up against a wall or leave it 'X' inches away. The ladder is approx. 6 inches wide and I want to make sure there is enough room for them to go up it without the wall being an impediment. I have 4 PBR's and 2 RIR's currently and am not sure how big they will end up. I'll try to post a picture tomorrow if my explanation doesn't make sense.

I would give it some room myself. I have regular wooden ladders in mine,had one against a wall and they would fly down and get stuck,to the more room the better
