Hello. I am going to be getting some Lady Amherst pheasants soon and was wondering if there was a way to sex them? Other than vent sexing...
They were born on May 31st.

Lady Ms cocks dont get the colouration till the second year molt

although the hens are brown so you may be able to sex

I think with 8 -10 weeks their eye colour changes, hens eyes will stay brown while males eyes will turn pearl.

they are like the red goldens, males will develop a tear drop spot under the eye where feathers wont grow, females will not get this spot under the eye. This happens shortly after the eye color change. good luck

Another question I just thought of, what kind of personality do they have?
Are they like Ringneck pheasants and really jumpy and wild? Is this a common pheasant personality for all types? Or are they more tame?
