I was wondering if any of you own/raise these pheasants. I saw a pair at Busch Gardens in Tampa, and they are so gorgeous! I think the male is quite possibly the most beautiful bird I have ever seen. They were both quite aloof, not nearly as gregarious as the lorikeets in the same aviary.

I agree. They are gorgeous, aren't they?

Cackle Hatchery sells them and others like Strombergs offer them in phesant assortments but no guarantee to variety.

Don't buy pheasants from a hatchery. You will be paying way to much for them.Find a breeder near by,there's someone in almost every state them raises pheasants. If you give me your state I can look through my APWs directory and maybe you can see them before buying them, but bring extra cash you will want more then amherst.
In N.H.,Tony.

I bought my first birds locally through asking around.
I paid twenty bucks apiece!
Then I bought some 'fancier' ones through Eggbid.com and you can find them through sellers on here.
Try Craigslist or local feed/agricultural stores too but make sure the birds are pure and not inbred!!!!

Thank you for all the wonderful information on the pheasants. I live in GA, by the way. I think I will look into a breeder before a hatchery, thanks for the good advice.

Raise them, love them. Not quite as calm as Goldens, but still a nice bird. Watch for purebreeds. Many backyard hobbyists mix them with Red goldens. Some on purpose and some by accident.

Just found this site while looking for a breeder here in Texas where I could purchase a pair of Lady Amhearst. Any information anyone could share would be greatly appreciated.
